Richard - The Executive Support Interim

Having worked in the IT sector for 28 years Richard has acquired a very wide range of business experience, without losing touch with his technical IT roots.   He is an excellent communicator, especially in writing; and is known for his close attention to detail.   He is dependable and straightforward, and works particularly well in a role supporting senior management.

In parallel with his employed activities, Richard was for 14 years the honorary company secretary and a director and trustee of a national charitable museum.

In his last role Richard reported directly to the Managing Director. His title was

“Manager, Planning and Procedures”.  A wide range of tasks were undertaken, many of which were passed over to full-time personnel as the company grew.

The role increasingly specialised in the area of legal scrutiny, including intellectual property.

This involved obtaining advice from commercial lawyers (and from a patent agent) and providing a vital link between them and the personnel pursuing the company’s business.

Richard also provided advice to the company’s directors on the rare occasions when difficulty arose with staff.  His role was mainly to advise the directors of the company’s position under the law, and how best practice should be applied. These situations involved taking and expressing an impartial and prudent view, as well as demanding discretion and confidentiality. Richard designed a formal quality management system for the company, including authoring of procedures and audit arrangements. He also designed and created a personnel system for supporting management in pay review and bonus allocation, and for routine monthly overtime payments.  He has supported and advised senior management, including at company director level, on company and director responsibilities that impinge upon the company’s activities, including providing awareness on prospective new developments in this regard.
